David Placher

Travel He Wrote

Hi, I’m David Placher, a travel writer, a photographer, and a world traveler.  My part-time travel writing complements my full-time profession that I depend my livelihood on.   I’m not one of the hundreds that left jobs to become backpackers and roam the world.   I’m a professional that loves to travel and write.  I go on trips when I can.  If I find cheap flights or low-cost quality hotels, even better.   My travel articles capture my stories.  So, if you are looking for a “how to guide” on how to quit work and get paid to travel write or find someone else to pay for your travel, you are in the wrong place.

About ME

My first trip outside of the United States was in November 1996.  I was a college student, and I crossed the border from El Passo, TX to Juarez for an evening of adventures. My next trip outside of the United States wasn’t until March 2010.  I went to visit my friend in Singapore. From Singapore, we took short trips to Bali, Indonesia and Phuket, Thailand.  Sometime during my Singapore trip, I was bitten by the “travel bug” and I’ve been traveling since.
